Princess Cruises wins three awards from Travel Weekly Including “Best Cruise Line in Alaska” for seventh year

Magazine’s Readers Also Recognize Line for Itinerary Design and Agent Educational Programs

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (December 19, 2013) – For the seventh year in a row, Princess Cruises has been voted the “Best Cruise Line in Alaska” in the annual Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards.

In addition, the cruise line won awards for “Best Itinerary Design” and “Best Travel Agent Educational Program.”

The awards, given by the respected magazine’s travel agent readers, recognized Princess for the quality of its Alaska cruises and cruisetours as well as the line’s worldwide itineraries and the extensive Princess Academy program for travel agents.

“These awards are important to us because they recognize our efforts in several key areas,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises president. “It’s gratifying to see our Alaska program honored year after year, because it’s certainly one of our signature destinations. But our cruises also cover the globe, so to receive accolades for our expertise in worldwide itineraries is exciting. And we’re also incredibly pleased that travel agents voted our Princess Academy training program a winner.”

Drawing on more than 40 years of experience cruising the 49th state, Princess Cruises brings more passengers to Alaska than any other cruise line, offering Gulf of Alaska and Inside Passage sailings with an extensive selection of cruisetours to the heart of Alaska. In 2014, seven ships will sail on Alaska itineraries, including Crown Princess, which will debut as Princess’ largest ship to sail in the region.

The ship will be joined by Coral Princess and Island Princess all sailing on the line’s popular “Voyage of the Glaciers” route through the scenic Gulf of Alaska. Small ship Pacific Princess brings its intimate cruise experience to Inside Passage cruises from Vancouver for the first time since 2009. Golden Princess and Grand Princess will offer Inside Passage cruises from Seattle, and Star Princess will depart on 11-day Inside Passage journeys from San Francisco.

Princess Cruises sails to six continents, offering more than 150 itineraries encompassing approximately 300 ports around the world. The company’s destinations include Alaska, Africa, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii/Tahiti, Mexico, Panama Canal, South Pacific, South America, and world cruises.

Since 2006, more than 50,000 travel agents around the world have participated in Princess Academy, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive travel industry training programs in the world. Princess Academy features courses written by Princess Cruises industry experts and offers rich detail about the company’s destinations and product offerings.
