Get your motor runnin’ and head out on a cruise ship.
In the category of “what will they think of next,” Norwegian Cruise Line will have a Ferrari racetrack on the top deck of its newest ship.
Go for the checkered flag on Norwegian Joy on a “thrilling” two-level racetrack in the middle of the ocean – the first ever at sea.
In partnership with Scuderia Ferrari Watches, the zoom, zoom fun on electric go-carts will be on the soon to-be-unveiled 3,850-passenger vessel targeted at the Asian market.
Norwegian Joy will have a “thrilling” two-level racetrack on its top deck.
Up to 10 drivers will be able to race each other on the course and have photos taken at the finish line.
   That’s not all.

Norwegian Joy will offer other “engaging and innovative activities” including an open-air laser tag course, simulator rides and interactive video walls as well as hovercraft bumper cars, racing simulator and two multi-storey waterslides.
There will also be a tranquil open space park, the line’s largest upscale shopping district, a “multitude of VIP accommodations” and an observation deck with 180-degree views.
Many of the oceanview and interior staterooms will have virtual balconies.
Norwegian Joy is the line’s first “purpose-built ship” for the Chinese market and will home port in Shanghai and Tianjin.
An inaugural port tour leads up to a christening ceremony on June 27, led by the ship’s Godfather, “King of Chinese Pop” Wang Leehom.
It is one of the 10 largest cruise ships and the second in NCL’s new Breakaway Plus series after Norwegian Escape, launched in 2015, that sails year-round to the Caribbean from Miami. ncl.com/ca/en/norwegian-joy

   More joy at sea
A colourful Dr. Seuss Waterworks Park will be featured on the new Carnival Horizon debuting next year.
This first Dr. Seuss-themed park will have “exhilarating slides, fun-filled water toys and attractions inspired by the world’s most-popular children’s author,” said Carnival publicist Vance Gulliksen.

Inspired by the whimsical world, the 3,934-passenger vessel will debut in Europe in April next year.
“Carnival ships are designed as the ultimate seagoing playgrounds and Carnival Horizon will take this concept to the next level,” said president Christine Duffy.
The fleet has had “incredible success” with the Seuss at Sea program that includes a Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with the Cat in the Hat and Friends and the Seuss-a-Palooza parade and story time.
On Horizon’s Deck 12, the water park will have an enclosed raft and a body slide, huge 570-litre tipping bucket, kiddie splash zone and water spray toys.
Carnival Horizon will debut a Dr. Seuss Waterworks Park.
There’s also SkyRide, a bike-ride-in-the-sky attraction, IMAX Theatre and outdoor recreation area with suspended ropes course.
The maiden voyage is a 13-day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona, the first of four round-trip departures from the port.
It repositions with a 14-day trans-Atlantic crossing to New York in May next year, four-day Bermuda and eight-day Caribbean departures over the summer and then year-round Caribbean cruises from Miami. carnival.com

May the force be with you
Exploring the universes of Star Wars and Marvel are among “exciting new experiences” coming to Disney Fantasy next month.
“Imaginative new spaces for kids” include Star Wars: Command Post to train with heroes of the saga and help with missions against the First Order.
The all-new Marvel Super Hero Academy will be on the Disney Fantasy.
“Kids will interact with holographic models at a one of-a-kind Star Wars holotable that projects 3-D images of the Millennium Falcon, Death Star and other Star Wars ships, meet members of the Resistance and learn to channel the Force,” Disney says.
The Marvel Super Hero Academy lets children “learn from real-life Super Heroes the heroic values of enlightenment, worthiness and loyalty.”
Children can discover ways of the mystic arts with Doctor Strange and interact with and open portals to different locales around the Marvel Universe while immersed in an exclusive gaming experience. disneycruise.com
