Norwegian Epic sails into Port Canaveral for Caribbean, Bahamas cruises

Norwegian’s most awarded ship will cruise the Western Caribbean and the Bahamas this winter
ORLANDO, FL- November 12, 2016 – One of Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest and most awarded ships, Norwegian Epic, arrived this morning in Port Canaveral, FL to begin her winter season sailing a series of Eastern and Western Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries ranging in length from three, four, six and seven days.

The award-winning Norwegian Epic returns home to the U.S. after having spent a year in Europe, where she underwent an extensive renovation as a part of The Norwegian Edge™ fleet revitalization program.

“We saw great success in Port Canaveral when we returned to the port last year with  Norwegian Spirit, so we felt it made sense to take our commitment to the next level by bringing Norwegian Epic, one of our largest and most awarded ships, to sail from the greater Orlando area,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line.
“Norwegian Epic revolutionized the cruise industry when she debuted in 2010 and she arrives today in Port Canaveral a nearly new ship, having undergone extensive renovations through the Norwegian Edge program, and will offer a variety of itineraries varying in length and ports of call. We think this will be a recipe for success and we look forward to having her in Port Canaveral in 2017 and 2018.”
Norwegian Epic is the largest Norwegian ship to ever homeport in Port Canaveral, and her 2016/2017 season will offer guests a variety of itineraries that are sure to fit any schedule or Caribbean destination.

"Port Canaveral is the proud new homeport for Norwegian Epic and our goal is to provide excellent customer service for our cruise guests, which is what Norwegian Cruise Line has come to expect of us," said John Murray, chief executive officer of Port Canaveral.
Norwegian Epic’s seven-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary will be a beach-lover’s paradise with stops in Tortola, British Virgin Islands; St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. Guests can choose to soak-up the sun or opt for an adventurous land-based activity on Norwegian Epic’s Western Caribbean itinerary, featuring stops in Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. Norwegian Epic will offer guests who may not have the time to get away for a week-long vacation the perfect opportunity for a quick escape in January and March 2017 with three- and four-day Bahamas itineraries with stops in Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay.

Guests looking to celebrate their Holiday season at sea can do so aboard Norwegian Epic with two sail date options including a seven-day Western Caribbean sailing departing December 23 or a seven day Eastern Caribbean sailing departing on December 30 for those who want to cruise into the New Year.
Following her extensive refurbishment in late 2015, as a part of The Norwegian Edge program, Norwegian Epic returns home to the United States offering brand new onboard amenities and entertainment. All of the ship’s public areas received top to bottom renovations including new lighting fixtures, artwork, wall covering, furniture and more. All restaurants onboard also received a more modern look and new menus offering more flexible dining including premium ingredients and additional á la carte options to meet the desires of even the most discerning diners.
Norwegian Epic also now features two new Broadway shows as headliners: Burn the Floor and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert – The Musical. Broadway sensation Burn the Floor, which has received rave reviews on Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway, brings the sizzle and passion of ballroom dancing to Norwegian Epic with “Ballroom Blitz,” a high-energy show featuring an international cast of world-renowned dancers and incredible live-music.

Based on the Oscar-winning movie, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert – The Musical is the heart-warming, uplifting comedy adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship and features a hit parade of dance floor favorites, including “It’s Raining Men,” “I Will Survive” and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”
