Barry Brown  Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman George McGhee
27 July Barry Brown – Born and educated in Australia, Barry Brown is creator of “The Hollywood Greats,” a series of star profiles presented by British film critic Barry Norman.  Additionally, Brown worked for the Australian Broadcasting Commission where he appeared on both radio and television, and joined BBC TV in 1968 where he specialised in magazine programs and documentaries about movies.  (Queen Mary 2 Westbound Transatlantic Crossing)

27 July – Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman – A former NASA astronaut, Hoffman made five space flights and was the first astronaut to log 1,000  hours of flight time aboard the Space Shuttle. He has performed four spacewalks, including the first unplanned contingency spacewalk in NASA’s history, and the initial/repair rescue mission for the Hubble Space Telescope.  Since 2001 he has held the position of Professor of Aerospace Engineering in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he teaches courses on space operations and design and space policy.  (Queen Mary 2 Westbound Transatlantic Crossing)

3 August George McGhee – McGhee is a former programming executive for the BBC.  During his 30-year career in TV and entertainment, McGhee met several of Hollywood’s “Greats,” including Ginger Rogers, Anthony Quinn, Ann Miller, Alice Faye, Douglas Fairbanks Junior, Peggy Lee and Bette Davis among others.  (Queen Victoria North Cape Discovery II Voyage)

14 August Martin Bell – Known as “The Man in the White Suit” due to his extensive white suit wardrobe, Martin Bell is an award-winning broadcaster and war reporter who began his career with BBC in 1962.  Bell has covered 11 conflicts including Vietnam, the Middle East, Nigeria, Angola and Northern Ireland, and reported from 80 countries.  Bell was recently appointed UNICEF Ambassador for Humanitarian Emergencies.  (Queen Elizabeth Mediterranean Gems Voyage) 

21 August – John Maxtone-Graham – A favourite Insights speaker, Maxtone-Graham is considered one of the world’s foremost experts in maritime history, and has written three Cunard histories plus a comprehensive book about Queen Mary 2.  (Queen Mary 2 Westbound Transatlantic Crossing)

28 August – Ambassador Howard Walker – During his 33-year diplomatic career, Ambassador Walker served as U.S. Ambassador to Madagascar, Togo, and The Federal and Islamic Republic of The Comoros.  Ambassador Walker has written about foreign policy for newspapers and journals, and taught courses on diplomacy and international relations at universities in Washington, Rome and South Africa where he was Fulbright Visiting Professor at The University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University.  (Queen Mary 2 Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing)

14 September Tom Boles – Boles, a British astronomer, author and computer engineer, currently holds a world record in spotting the most supernovae (stellar explosions) by one person, at 125 spottings.  In 2003 Boles was touted as one of the "most successful exploding star hunters in history."  (Queen Mary 2 Iberian Highlights Voyage)

14 September Lynne Truss – Truss is best known for her bestselling books: “Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation” and “Talk to the Hand: The Utter Bloody Rudeness of the World Today.”  Truss is a former newspaper columnist, radio dramatist, TV critic and a sports writer.  In October 2009 she published her book about her experience as a sportswriter, “Get Her Off the Pitch!”  (Queen Mary 2 Westbound Transatlantic Crossing)

14 September – Captain Howard Deck – A Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, having flown and trained pilots for British Airways for 35 years. (Queen Mary 2 Westbound Transatlantic Crossing)
