Royal Caribbean International Statement Regarding Explorer of the Seas

January 27, 2014
9:00 p.m.

Explorer of the Seas is on track to return home from its 10-day cruise on Wednesday. The number of reported new cases of gastrointestinal illness has dropped sharply after a spike in the first days of the cruise, and most guests who fell ill are up and about.

The drop in new cases is encouraging. However, it is not unusual in an outbreak to still have smaller, secondary spikes. That is why, after discussions with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and our medical team, we decided the most prudent course for the health of our guests and crew was to bring the cruise home on Wednesday, two days earlier than planned.

Looking to cruise solo? A number of cruise lines offer single supplement pricing or better

For Immediate Release

Sophisticated Cruise Specialists at Crown Cruise Vacations Provide Exclusive Offers, Exceptional Value & Unparalleled Service

DETROIT Traveling solo can be a great way to relax and enjoy a cruise, but you want to be sure to plan well and that your ship and itinerary make sense, say the cruise experts at Crown Cruise Vacations.

Finding good pricing as a solo traveler can be a challenge, because the cruise lines look at the market value of their cabins on a per-person basis, and they are usually priced at double occupancy rate.

When sailing alone, you’ll pay what’s known as a “single supplement,” which means you pay for the entire cabin, and your individual rate will be higher than if you were sharing the cabin with another passenger.  However, in the interest of relaxation and solitude, many travelers find that this added expense is well worth the cost.

Carnival Cruise Lines announces new American Table and American Feast dinner concepts

(News Release)

MIAMI – Carnival Cruise Lines has launched new dinner concepts for the ships’ main dining rooms that have now begun aboard the Carnival Glory.

The two new concepts, American TABLE and American FEAST, reflect an increased investment by Carnival in its main dining room experience and incorporate the results of extensive testing and research conducted among Carnival’s past guests.

During the development of the new dinner concepts, the cruise line’s management team spent time interacting with the leadership at Union Square Hospitality Group, a leading New York-based entertainment, food and hospitality organization, to observe best practices and the organization’s approach to culinary excellence.

Taking inspiration from that interaction, Carnival’s culinary team developed the new dinner concepts, which will be offered during a pilot period with some variation in the dishes, presentation style and other elements to gauge additional guest feedback before rolling out the program fleetwide in the latter half of 2014 and 2015.  Other ships included in the pilot are Carnival Liberty beginning this month and Carnival Imagination and Carnival Inspiration starting in February.
